A PEARL OFF THE BEATEN TRACK
A fascinating four-hour experience in an ancient farmers’ settlement in the area of Terricciola, a charming wine district in Terre di Pisa, about 30 minutes from the town of the leaning tower, with guided visit to one of the most renowned wineries of Tuscany. It is one of the few Chianti DOCG production areas of Tuscany and in the last decades many “big ones” of Italy’s winemaking sector opened their local branch here. Arianna & Friends helps you discover this wine area off the beaten track.

A little hamlet in Tuscany
This fascinating tour starts with a guided visit of a small medieval hamlet originated during the agricultural development in the rural Tuscany between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance times. Through a quick but very interesting walk, you learn a lot about the overall agricultural organization of the area, a socio-economical model that brought to the spectacular aspect of the rural Tuscany of today!

A panoramic contemporary winery

After the walk you visit an extraordinarily panoramic, beautiful and technologically advanced winery, whose premises are mostly all underground. The facility has a wonderful view over its vineyards and is the starting point of a nice walk among the vineyards together with the winemaker. The visit to the premises continues with a detailled explanation of the fermentation area, where in Autumn the grapes boil inside several casks just after being harvested. All this is followed by a walk into other storage areas where the rest of the aging process takes place, up to the most fascinating room in the whole complex: a large and artistically decorated barriccaia full of wooden barrels. Along with the details about the winery, the tour guide gives you general and historical information about the region and the art of winemaking.

Wine tasting with snacks

Finally, you sit in a charming and panoramic tasting room and you enjoy a gamma of 6/8 wines produced by the company, starting from younger white and rosee up to aged and intense red wines (the selection of wines depends on what is available in the wine cellar). The wine tasting is accompanied by some delicious local snacks (such as cheese, hams, salami) and locally produced extra virgin olive oil.

This is the best way for you to discover this enchanting world, deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of Tuscany.
